Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle wear shorter hemlines while they are pregnant for a poignant reason.

Cecile Reinaud, the founder of Seraphine, told InStyle that Markle and Middleton’s wardrobe won’t drastically change because of their pregnancy. But they have both opted for shorter hemlines because they were pregnant during winter.

“Because her pregnancy is going to be a winter pregnancy, I think she’s more likely to shorten her hemline and also probably wear what we’ve seen at Eugenie’s royal wedding, this kind of coat dress,” she said.

Reinaud also talked about Markle’s fashion sense and said that it is likely for royal fans to see her in her maternity pants in the coming months.

“She’s got very thin legs, you know, as we’ve seen with her flashing them on the royal tour, so I think trousers really work well. She’s likely to have quite a big bump because she’s quite a petite build… so highlighting legs and arms is always a good trick to keep a nice silhouette,” she said.

Meanwhile, the founder of Seraphine also discussed Markle and Middleton’s pre-pregnancy styles.

“I think generally, people sort of try to stay true to their pre-maternity style during maternity. So I think we will see the trends she’s shown us, which is a lot of monochromes, not a lot of print, structured shapes, close to the body, slightly androgynous sometimes with trousers and suits,” she said.

“I don’t think she’s going to suddenly transform herself and wear lots of pastels, which is more Kate’s style. Kate was very much and has always been, into pastels and florals and Meghan has more of a chic look,” she added.

Markle is scheduled to give birth to her and Prince Harry’s first child sometime in the spring of 2019. Middleton, on the other hand, just gave birth to her and Prince William’s third child, Prince Louis, on April 23.
