Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte have been known to wear coordinated outfits, and one expert said there's a reason for this.

The Duchess of Cambridge and her only daughter have been spotted wearing similar outfits on multiple occasions. For instance, both wore matching dresses during the Trooping the Colour in 2016 and 2017. They were also photographed with coordinated blue ensembles during their Germany visit.

According to an expert, there is a reason why Middleton and Princess Charlotte dress this way at times. Damien Woolnough, 9Style's editor, claimed that this is a calculated move by the royals. "When you're the most photographed family on the planet (sorry Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy) coordinating your look is a great way to preserve the Cambridge family's brand," Woolnough said.

He also compared their style to that of the Beckhams. According to him, when Middleton and Prince William don coordinated outfits, they look great together. "Just like the Beckhams, Kate and Will demonstrate that the family that dresses together looks great together," he added. "To stop the whole thing from looking too matchy-matchy, the colour choices are just close enough to make a strong impression without being spot on."

Prince William, Middleton, Prince George and Princess Charlotte wore coordinated blue outfits for their holiday portrait in December. The duchess' outfit for the said photo shoot was not new. In fact, Middleton has worn it several times already.

Middleton wore a pale blue Catherine Walker suit for their family holiday card. The royal mom of three was first seen in that ensemble when she made her first solo overseas trip to the Netherlands to meet King William-Alexander at Villa Eikenhorst. She recycled the dress at Camilla Parker Bowles' 70th birthday.

Middleton is popular for recycling outfits. In fact, she's dubbed as "Thrifty Kate" and the Duchess of Cornwall seems to be following her footsteps.

Camilla was seen lately wearing the same outfits. In June, Prince Charles and his wife attended the second day of Royal Ascot. Camilla was photographed in a mint-green dress which she also used during the Prince of Wales' garden party in May. She also used the same white hat, white gloves, snakeskin clutch and necklace.

"Camilla clearly isn't afraid of people noticing her new habit of recycling her apparel, and she looks chic and confident while doing it," Kara Thompson of Town & Country wrote.
