Kate Middleton will certainly become queen consort unlike Camilla Parker Bowles.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall are both married to future kings Prince William and Prince Charles, respectively However, one of them will become queen for certain while the other may or may not become one.

Usually, the king’s wife is set to become the queen. However, it still isn’t certain if this will apply when Prince Charles becomes king since the palace has been saying that Camilla will only become princess consort.

According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Camilla is popular because she does a good job when it comes to her engagements and she makes Prince Charles happy. However, her succession to the throne is “an issue which is hypersensitive and remains a problem.”

“Kate will be Queen Consort without any question,” Fitzwilliams told Express.

“We've only quite recently had the clarification again that Camilla will be Princess Consort, not Queen Consort. Princess Consort historically is something that doesn't exist, it's been invented.”

He explained that Camilla’s “Princess Consort” title did not really exist because it was only invented for her. Many people thought she would be queen when Prince Charles takes over the throne, but the palace has already decided on her title ahead of Prince Charles’ coronation. The palace insisted that she will only princess consort and not queen consort.

“The only reason Camilla isn't Queen Consort is, of course, because of the background with Diana,” Fitzwilliams added.

Although Camilla’s fate to be the next queen isn’t as clear as Middleton’s, one thing is certain, she will play a major role during Prince Charles’ reign just like what Prince Philip did for Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal expert Angela Mollard said in New Idea’s “ROYALS” podcast that Camilla will never be queen and the duchess has no desire to be one.

“Many years have passed now, she is only going to be Princess Consort. She’s not going to be Queen as was discussed when she married Charles,” Mollard said.

“There was always the directive that she would be Princess Consort. There must have been some bubbling over recently about the fact the Queen’s getting older and when Charles takes the throne, what will Camilla be called? Apparently she has no desire to be anything more than Princess Consort. She doesn’t need to be Queen and this is just confirmation from Clarence House that that will be her title.”

However, some experts are still convinced that Camilla would be Prince Charles’ queen. Royal biographer Penny Junor said before that the Prince of Wales would definitely give the title to his wife.
