Kate Middleton shot "icy" glares at Meghan Markle during a recent public reunion to "freeze" her out, a body language expert has suggested.

In what was their first public appearance as a foursome in more than two years, Markle, 41, and Prince Harry, 37, joined Middleton, 40, and her husband Prince William, 40, in greeting mourners outside Windsor Castle Saturday in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's death on Sept. 8.

Footage from the outing showed Middleton appearing to stare down Markle with "scary" intensity, according to some royal fans, before smiling and waving at the camera, 7News.com.au reported.

Katia Loisel — who is described on her website as a connection specialist, body language and relationship expert and author with 20 years of experience in the media — weighed in on the two women's body language during the walkabout, telling 7News that, unlike her usual confident demeanor, Markle appeared "ill at ease" during the encounter.

Loisel claimed that while Prince William seemed to be making an effort to include and connect with Markle, Middleton's stares made it look as though she was trying to "freeze out" the former "Suits" star.

According to the expert, while Markle looked over at Middleton many times during the walkabout, the Princess of Wales appeared to "look through" the other royal, which Loisel said suggests "underlying tension" between the pair.

Discussing Middleton's alleged "icy stare," Loisel said the royal's posture looked tense, with a fixed glare and compressed lips when she looked at Markle.

"Meghan appeared clearly taken aback and uncertain, stepping sideways, orientating her body away from Kate, shifting her weight from foot, her head slightly stooped," Loisel told the outlet. "Her gestures uncertain and hesitant with the use of manipulators or self-adaptors further suggesting discomfort and uncertainty."

Loisel noted that Markle hesitantly lifted her hand midair to wave but paused to adjust her hair. She also lowered her gaze before giving the crowd a quick wave.

One photo from the event showed Markle putting an arm in front of her body in a partial arm barrier, which the expert said is a kind of protective measure suggesting "uncertainty and unease."

"Meghan's nonverbal communication suggests that she may have felt out of place and didn't quite know where to put herself, with Prince Harry gently standing behind her, touching her arms and leading her in a protective and reassuring show of support," Loisel concluded.

Other body language experts had similar observations regarding the four royals' recent public reunion. Dr. Lillian Glass told Page Six that Prince William was more cordial to Markle, while Middleton appeared to refuse to even look at her.

"It was not in her heart to smile at Meghan, so she didn't do it," the body language analyst suggested of Middleton. "Meghan, on the other hand, looked like a sad and desperate puppy as she tried to catch Kate's eye gaze repeatedly. But Kate was having none of it."

TV body language expert Judi James also told Page Six that Middleton "appeared to be less keen to perform for the cameras" and instead appeared more "keen to get on with the job rather than perform in any soap opera."
