Kate Winslet appears to be on the road to sealing her first Academy Award after being nominated in two categories on Thursday.

The British actress has been nominated in the Baftas once again - this time as leading actress - for her two roles in Revolutionary Road and The Reader.

Winslet has made no secret of her desire to win an Oscar this year after missing out on five previous occasions.

It's hard to be there five times and I'm only human, you know? But I don't go home and cry, because we're all grown-ups here, she said.

I don't want to be the most nominated loser, she added. Isn't it human to maybe want to win sometimes?

The Baftas, the British film industry's annual awards, are held two weeks before the Oscars.

The 33-year-old British star won best actress for Revolutionary Road and best supporting actress for The Reader at Sunday night's Golden Globes ceremony.

The Titanic star faces competition from Angelina Jolie for Changeling, Kristin Scott Thomas for I've Loved You So Long and Meryl Streep in Doubt.
