“Wide Awake” singer Katy Perry was never shy about changing her hair, but the blonde pixie cut was one of the boldest styles she sported. After her breakup from “Lord of the Rings” actor Orlando Bloom Tuesday, the pop star needed a change. It was a metamorphosis just like the one “Wrecking Ball” singer Miley Cyrus went through when she broke up with longtime boyfriend Liam Hemsworth in 2012.

The star explained her hair evolution, which first started by dying her long bob—also known as a lob—blonde. “Honestly, I tried to take my full head of hair platinum and I had a lot of breakage. I’ve always wanted to look like Miley Cyrus. I’ve always wanted to have that pixie haircut, so I said, ‘Let’s just go for it,'” she told radio host Elvis Duran at the iHeartRadio Music Awards Sunday, according to People Magazine.

But Cyrus wasn’t her only muse. She also inspired by actress Scarlett Johansson.

Perry, 32, continued: “I feel like there’s a new wave, a new authentic vibe coming in and I think this matches. I want to redefine what it means to be feminine. Look at Scarlett Johansson, who’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. We have the same haircut and I saw her at an Oscars party and was like, ‘I’m doing it.’ You’re hot, you can be hot and look great with this kind of hair. Why not?”

While rumors swirled that Bloom and Perry broke up because someone cheated, the singer slammed the gossip in a Thursday Twitter message. “HOW BOUT A NEW WAY OF THINKING FOR 2017!? U can still b friends & love ur former partners! No one’s a victim or a villain, get a life y’all,” she tweeted.

Two days earlier, their reps released a statement on the split. “Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time,” the message to People Magazine stated.
