A Key Aspect Of Trump’s Support Base Is Weakening, A New Poll Shows
The poll found that only 15 percent "approve strongly" of Trump, a new low for the category.

A new poll has found that President Donald Trump's approval rating in the 30s, with signs that support among some in his base is weakening.
The Washington Post/Ipsos poll found that Trump's approval rating was at 37 percent, while his disapproval rating stood at 61 percent. The outlet noted that those numbers have barely moved since February and mirror the rating he had when he left office in 2021.
The poll, however, found that only 15 percent "approve strongly" of Trump, a new low for the category and down from 19 percent in February. The newspaper also reported more Trump supporters have moved into the "somewhat" support category than ever before.
On the issues, the poll found that voters strongly disapprove of Trump's handling of the war with Iran, immigration, and the economy.
On the economy, one of the troubling findings for Trump was that 43 percent of respondents say they are worse off financially under Trump than they were under Biden. About 39 percent said that things were about the same and only 17 percent said they were better off under Trump.
Of those three issues, the Iran war garnered the highest disapproval, with 69 percent of respondents disapproving and only 29 percent approving of Trump's policy.
Earlier this week, another poll found that Americans were pessimistic about the Iran war coming to a close anytime soon. The Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 79 percent of Americans believe the U.S. military will be involved in activity for "an extended period of time." The wire service noted that the figure was up from 65 percent in May.
About 18 percent thought things might end in a "matter of weeks."
According to the Silver Bulletin website, which tracks numerous polls on a variety of issues creating a composite figure, the Iran war has never been popular. When it began at the end of February, polls had only 30 percent supporting the war and 47 percent opposing it.
As of July 6, the Iran war remained largely unpopular according to the website, with only 36 percent of the public supporting it and 57 percent opposing it.
