Kristen Stewart recently opened up about the impact playing Princess Diana in her latest movie had on her.

The 31-year-old actress is being honored by the Palm Springs International Film Awards with the Spotlight Award for her performance as Princess Diana in "Spencer."

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Stewart said the experience had a profound effect on her, explaining that she felt both "big and small" at the same time when she was portraying the late royal.

"The most resounding takeaway that I have from making this movie was probably how big and how small I felt as her," Stewart told ET. "I've never felt so big and so small at the same time. And I don't know, just to sort of be aware of there are certain impactful and, you know, touching people that exist and they're sort of lightning in a bottle, one-in-a-million special, but their inner lives are maybe not sometimes what it feels like for everyone outside."

"You know, it's like this woman was able to reach out and touch so many people and responsible for so much good in the world, a just sort of unyielding, unbelievable amount of goodness, but at the same time it's just really nice to, you know, to fall into sort of wake of her dreamy nature," the actress explained.

Stewart said that the experience was "such a trip" and that she'd "never done anything like it."

She went on to describe Princess Diana as a "sort of artist," citing the late royal's incredible ability to touch the lives of people around the world before she died in a car crash in 1997.

The "Twilight" star said this "talent and connection" were what they tried to achieve with the film "Spencer," adding, "I think all of that was just the coolest thing."

Stewart's performance as Princess Diana generated Oscar buzz when the movie premiered last year, with a number of critics giving her positive reviews. However, the actress said that whether or not the movie will earn her an Academy Award nomination or trophy is very low on her priority list.

"I don’t give a s—t," she said during an interview on "Variety’s Award Circuit" podcast in November 2021. "The Oscars are such a funny thing. There are so many incredible movies and performances that barely get seen. It definitely says something about where we’re at as a cumulative presence, like, what we’re looking at [and] what we care about."

Meanwhile, Stewart also opened up about her upcoming wedding to fiancée Dylan Meyer. They got engaged in November last year after two years of dating.

Stewart, who dated her "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson until 2013, told ET that she isn't sure how many wedding traditions she and Meyer are going to follow for their nuptials but revealed that she already knows what she'll be wearing on her big day. However, the actress said she'll keep it a surprise.

"I know what I’m gonna wear, and I can't tell you. Like, the whole thing, we kind of have to do the surprise thing," Stewart said.
