  • Andreas Pereira is on the brink of getting a new break with Lazio, a report says
  • Pereira's exit from Old Trafford is nearing
  • Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi has high hopes for Pereira

Andreas Pereira is struggling to make the grade and it appears the 24-year-old is leaving Old Trafford soon. SS Lazio is interested in taking in the midfielder who has fallen down the Manchester United ranks. Things are expected to get harder with the arrival of Donny van de Beek.

With his fortunes dwindling, the best Pereira can do now is hope his luck changes at Stadio Olimpico. The Eagles are pushing for a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, Goal reported. If he performs well, Lazio could take him in. As of writing, discussions are still ongoing between both clubs.

Pereira signed a new deal last summer, which means he is tied to United until 2023. He made 40 appearances across all competitions last season. Things just got harder when the Red Devils took in Bruno Fernandes. He failed to make the last three league games of that campaign.

Pereira could be a sensible option as Le Aquile looks for midfield reinforcements. They had their sights set on David Silva of Manchester City, but the 34-year-old opted to move to Real Sociedad.

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is hopeful that a deal would be sealed in the coming days. Manager Simone Inzaghi believes Pereira could be a big boost to the club but is leaving it to Tare to handle Pereira’s potential shift, Sky Sports reported.

"I know him, he's a quality player who could help us a lot. Now I don't want to talk of players who are not ours now. We are fortunate to have Tare who knows how to do it, we will see if he does not," Inzaghi said.

For the Red Devils, there are other players who could be moving. These include Chris Smalling, who is trying to secure a permanent move to Roma. He had an impressive performance last season, but United’s asking price may be a bit too stiff. The club is seeking $25.7 million for the center-back.

Finally, it appears the Red Devils have not yet given up on the Jadon Sancho chase. They are believed to be still working on a deal despite Borussia Dortmund claiming that the 20-year-old is staying put at Signal Iduna Park. Aside from Sancho, United is also in talks for Alex Telles of Porto.
