  • Inter Miami have offered a deal to Barca striker Luis Suarez
  • Suarez's current deal is set to expire in June 2021
  • He has scored 196 goals in 281 appearances for Barca

Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez has reportedly received an offer from Inter Miami, the soccer club that competes in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the U.S.

Suarez, who has struck a great partnership with Lionel Messi at Barcelona, has won four La Liga titles and one Champions League since arriving at Nou Camp in 2014. The Uruguayan striker, who turned 33 this year, has scored 196 goals in as many as 281 competitive appearances for the Catalan side.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Suarez is tempted by the interest from Inter Miami that is co-owned by Manchester United icon David Beckham. This move seems like a 'possibility' because Suarez earlier had said a move to the U.S. was "a nice possibility." Further strengthening the rumors, Suarez’s compatriot Nico Lodeiro, who plays for MLS club Seattle Sounders, said that Suarez "would like to play in the MLS."

"Luis wants to come to MLS. He likes the league. He always asks me questions about it. Hopefully, I can also play here for the Seattle Sounders. It can be a more difficult task. I think it's only a matter of time before he is here," added Lodeiro, according to Mundo Deportivo’s report.

Regarding Suarez’s contract that expires in June 2021, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that the club will extend the player’s deal depending upon the number of matches he plays in the 2020-21 campaign. The Mundo Deportivo report has also revealed that if Suarez manages to play 60% of Barcelona’s matches next season, his contract will automatically be renewed until June 2022.

It is understood that players are attracted to MLS majorly because of the good quality of life some clubs offer, courtesy of the cities they are located in. However, the report has stated that Inter Miami’s deal for Suarez is "important" in terms of MLS' financial standards but is not as strong in comparison to the European market.
