  • Liverpool has several veterans in its current roster
  • Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano named one player Liverpool is expected to pursue
  • Reds boss Jurgen Klopp insisted that they will not add more players

Unlike other big-name clubs, Liverpool has not been feeling the pressure to bolster the squad with additional talent.

With a talent-stacked roster, Liverpool is now sitting steady at the second spot in the English Premier League standings and appears to be primed for another title run. But the club also has several aging players in its lineup.

Providing the latest updates on Liverpool’s current stance on transfers, reputable transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed that though Jurgen Klopp’s side is not in “panic” buying mode, a transfer move for Villarreal standout Arnaut Danjuma is already in the works. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

“I’m told that they are already working for next summer to look, as they always do, no panic buys, but [more on] strategy,” Romano said on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel. “So, position by position, they are starting for next summer to have some players in this position – interesting players. I was mentioning this boy [Arnaut] Danjuma from Villareal, he’s doing great.”

Romano went on to reveal that a January move is unlikely to happen as Villarreal is not keen on cashing in on Danjuma. However, there’s a big possibility that Liverpool will make a push for the attacking midfielder as the Merseyside club sees him as perfectly suited for Klopp’s system.

“For January, I think it’s impossible because Villareal doesn’t want to sell him, but he’s one of the players to understand the kind of player [Liverpool] want,” the journalist added of Danjuma. “Maybe it’s not going to be next summer because many clubs are interested, but this is the kind of player Liverpool are following and watching for the future.”

It is no secret that Klopp is not leaning toward bringing in additional players to Liverpool. He has yet to comment about the recent link-up with Danjuma, but prior to the start of the current season, Klopp already stressed that “it makes no sense to add more players.”

Liverpool’s frontline powerhouse composed of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino has been working perfectly for Klopp. However, the German manager admitted that he has been hearing people convincing him to sign more elite-level strikers.

As expected, Klopp’s stance on the subject has not changed one bit.

“People are now saying: ‘You have to sign two strikers of the same quality of Sadio and Mo.’ That cannot be the solution because we cannot do that,” the renowned coach told The Guardian early in the season.

“Other teams signed players, fine,” he added. “Now we will play them and see what we can do.”
