  • Liverpool may have been considering Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman as Jadon Sancho's alternative, a report suggests
  • The Reds might need to fork out a huge amount to land Coman
  • The French winger is already viewed by some as a great addition to Jurgen Klopp's squad

Despite missing out on Jadon Sancho, Liverpool could still be looking at the possibility of signing an exceptionally talented player, a report has suggested.

The Sancho transfer saga finally reached its end this summer after the highly-regarded winger agreed to join Manchester United. Liverpool is among the clubs that fell short in the Sancho transfer race, but the Reds still have other options.

Topping the list of Liverpool’s potential Sancho alternatives is Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman. The prolific striker has been linked to Jurgen Klopp’s side in recent times, and a bid of around €35 million ($41.5 million) was already made, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported, via beinSPORTS. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

However, a transfer swoop for Coman isn’t going to be a walk in the park as the €35 million ($41.5 million) offer from the Reds is said to be way far from Bayern Munich’s valuation of the Frenchman.

Apparently, the Bundesliga side is demanding a “minimum €90 million” ($107 million) for Coman, a figure even the 25-year-old has deemed “unrealistic” at the moment, according to Bild’s Christian Falk.

“Message from Munich to Liverpool and United: Bayern want a transfer fee of minimum €90 Million for Kingsley Coman. Also the player thinks this is unrealistic for this summer,” Falk tweeted.

Coman is currently co-starring with Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich and has been a league champion for nine consecutive seasons.

To date, Coman has contributed 41 goals and 50 assists in 200 games for the reigning Bundesliga champion.

Apart from being touted as a credible fallback for Sancho at Liverpool at present, Coman was previously considered Manchester United’s plan B for the English forward as well in the past.

Now that Liverpool is heavily linked to Coman, legendary English Premier League striker Kevin Campbell is certain the Merseyside outfit could utilize the lethal goalscorer’s ability to “hurt teams” through his incredible nose for goals.

“Liverpool have had very good players in Shaqiri and the Origi but they want somebody in who can real do something,” Campbell recently told Football Insider. “They need somebody who can really change a game and [Kingsley] Coman has proven he can do that. He is a brilliant player and he can hurt teams.”

“Yes, he is another wide-forward but he is different to what they have got at the moment,” he continued. “Coman drives at teams. He is hungry to run in behind and hurt teams. If that deal was to happen, wow, it would be worrying for the rest of the Premier League.”
