  • Floyd Mayweather gets back inside the ring against Jake Paul on June 6th
  • Mayweather is no stranger to crossover bouts
  • His most notable crossover fight was against Conor McGregor in 2017

All-time boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. is set to face YouTube sensation Logan Paul in a boxing match confirmed for June 6th in Miami.

Originally scheduled for February this year, the six-round exhibition bout billed as "Bragging Rights" will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium.

It will be the latest in a recent slew of novelty or crossover boxing matches that have featured the likes of Logan's brother Jake, former UFC and ONE competitor Ben Askren, ex-NBA dunk champion Nate Robinson, and even retired legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

However, it will not be the first time for the undefeated Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) to venture into novelty fights at all.

In fact, the boxing superstar has figured in three distinct battles that also made respective marks throughout his famed career.

Here is a look-back at those three fights that surprised the sports world.

Mayweather Stars In Wrestlemania XXIV Vs Big Show

In 2007, Mayweather retired from boxing following huge wins over rival Oscar De La Hoya and British super lightweight Ricky Hatton, stating he has nothing left to prove.

The following year, he starred at Wrestlemania XXIV, battling the Big Show (Paul Wight) in a match-up hyped as "World's Biggest Athlete vs World's Best Athlete".

The build-up for the no-disqualification showdown happened two months prior when Mayweather came to Rey Mysterio's defense during WWE's No Way Out pay-per-view event.

When the giant threatened to choke-slam Mysterio, Mayweather and his entourage left ringside, confronted Big Show, and left him with a broken nose after a few punches.

In their match, Big Show tortured the Olympian bronze medalist early on using his tremendous size advantage, even taking down members of his entourage.

But Mayweather eventually got the upper hand with the help of a couple of low blows and steel chairs.

He finished the match striking his opponent in the jaw with a right hook while wearing brass knuckles, knocking out Big Show who failed to beat the 10-count.

Best Of Both Worlds: Mayweather Vs McGregor

In an announcement that jolted the international sporting scene, Mayweather and then-Irish UFC champion Conor McGregor broke news in June 2017 that they will engage in a pay-per-view boxing super-fight.

It confirmed three months of speculations and ongoing negotiations, and the hype that followed afterwards was insane.

The promotional tour for the event included four cities across three countries in North America and Europe.

The fight took place in August at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. McGregor surprised everyone initially by connecting well in the first three rounds.

Mayweather was already 40 years old during the fight and had not been in a professional boxing match in two years.

But the seasoned veteran took control in the latter rounds, with McGregor seemingly running out of gas.

The fight was eventually stopped by referee Kenny Bayless in the 10th round when Mayweather rocked McGregor with solid combinations.

It was a gigantic crossover event in combat sports that perhaps paved the way for the recent boxing vs MMA model.

Japan New Year's Eve Spectacle: Mayweather Beats Kickboxer Easily

On New Year's Eve of 2018, Mayweather earned the "easiest" $9 million purse of his career when he faced Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa at Rizin 14.

What was initially thought to be just a small event in front of VIP guests proceeded as a three-round exhibition bout under boxing rules inside a packed Saitama Super Arena in Japan.

Mayweather wasted no time toying with the much smaller competitor, who competes in a much smaller weight class compared to the American welterweight.

Nasukawa was knocked down three times after the opening bell that forced his corner to throw in the towel.
