  • Madonna is directing her still untitled biopic
  • The "Like A Virgin" singer is co-writing the script with Diablo Cody while Amy Pascal is producing
  • Madonna shared a semi-nude photo on Instagram in July and it received mixed reactions from her followers

Madonna and Amy Pascal are reuniting for the "Like A Virgin" singer's biopic that the former will be directing and the latter will be producing.

Universal Pictures is making a film based on Madonna's "untold true story." The "La Isla Bonita" singer shared the announcement on her website and said that the film will show her incredible journey as an artist, musician, dancer and human being. However, the focus of the movie will be music because it's what keeps her going.

"There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision," Madonna said in a statement released on her website.

Madonna was from Michigan and came to New York to fulfill her dreams of being a professional dancer. She only had $35 at the time, but she was tough and ambitious. So, she took dance classes, booked photoshoots and even posed nude. Her debut album was a hit and that was when her 40-year career took off.

"I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a b----, okay," Madonna said as quoted by Vogue.

Madonna and Pascal worked together in the American sports comedy-drama film "A League of Their Own." They are reuniting for Madonna's biopic and Pascal is very happy to be part of the movie.

"This movie is an absolute labor of love for me," Pascal said.

"I have known Madonna since we made ‘A League of Their Own’ together, and I can’t imagine anything more thrilling than collaborating with her and Diablo on bringing her true-life story to the big screen with Donna and our partners at Universal."

“Madonna is the ultimate icon, humanitarian, artist and rebel. With her singular gift of creating art that is as accessible as it is boundary-pushing, she has shaped our culture in a way very few others have,” said Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.

“It’s an incredible honor for everyone at Universal to work alongside her, Diablo, and Amy to bring audiences and dedicated fans around the world her unvarnished story for the first time.”

Madonna is co-writing the screenplay with award-winning writer Diablo Cody. Senior Executive Vice President of Production Erik Baiers and Director of Development Lexi Barta will oversee the project on behalf of Universal Pictures.

The movie is still untitled and there is no production timeline yet. The principal cast has yet to be announced too, Variety reported.

Meanwhile, in July, Madonna shared a topless mirror selfie on Instagram. In the snap she wears nothing but black underwear and a matching black hat. She covered her breasts with her arms and positioned her two hands up front to cover her modesty.

The post received mixed reactions from her followers. Many praised her for still being in shape at 61. However, others criticized Madonna because for them, she is "too old" to be posing semi-nude.
