"Dancing with the Stars" alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy said he and his wife Peta Murgatroyd are not giving up despite their failed IVF journey.

"We still want a family that's bigger than what we are," Chmerkovskiy told E! News exclusively. "We are still going to continue attempts and we'll see what happens, regardless of the fact we're going to have a bigger family whether through adoption or whatever this may be."

The former "DWTS" Latin ballroom dancer and choreographer, who will appear on the popular magic show "Criss Angel's Magic With The Stars" on Saturday, revealed that he and his wife remain undaunted despite the sad result of their IVF attempt this year.

"This is not over for us," Chmerkovskiy said and recalled how it was "difficult to watch" his wife go through the IVF process and how an outpouring of support from people going through similar situations helped them deal with the experience.

The 42-year-old dancer also underscored the importance of being open to the difficulties of conceiving and going through IVF to lessen its possible negative effects on one's mental health.

"The difficulties with having a kid aren't talked about in terms of [this is happening to a lot of women,]" he noted. "They're dealing with it in a very personal, blocked-off, closed-state way that is so detrimental to the psyche."

Chmerkovskiy told the outlet that he was initially against the idea of sharing their family struggles online but lauds his wife for being so open about her IVF journey on social media.

"The more real we are with each other, the better the society will be all around," he told the outlet.

In August, Murgatroyd took to her Instagram page and revealed that her IVF treatment failed and she is not having a baby.

The 36-year-old dancer explained in an emotional clip that 10 days after her embryo transfer, her doctor told her that there was no baby.

"I had to wrap my head around the fact that I had just spent all of these months preparing for this and I came out with nothing," she said. "I left empty-handed."
