  • A transfer insider reveals Manchester United has scheduled a meeting to talk about transfer targets
  • Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho is the player the Red Devils will "most likely" sign
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects several players to leave Old Trafford after this season

Manchester United could be plotting its strategy in the next transfer window with a top target already spotted.

Ahead of the summer, the Red Devils are already expected to come up aggressive in their pursuit of new signings.

Following the Europa League lost to Villarreal, Manchester United wasted no time and has set up a “meeting” to discuss the team’s transfer plans, according to famed transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

"Immediately after the [Europa League] final there is a meeting scheduled between the executive[s] of the club and [Manchester United manager] Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] to decide together about targets,” Romano recently said on the "Here We Go" podcast.

Prior to the said meeting, Romano hinted that Manchester United will try and take advantage of the reduced price tag of Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho.

"Keep an eye always on the Jadon Sancho situation because the price news is confirmed so it’s a bit less than €100 million ($122 million) [and] around €90 million ($107 million) €95 million ($115.5 million) for Jadon Sancho, but at the moment, Manchester United have not done an official bid yet," he suggested.

Apart from pursuing Sancho, Solskjaer is also keen on adding a center-back, midfielder, wide attacker, and No 9s, The Guardian reported.

At the moment, the report said that Manchester United has Pau Torres, Declan Rice and Harry Kane as “preferred targets.”

The Norwegian manager will spearhead the club’s transfer moves depending on the estimated total budget of more than £300 million ($425 million) and the “availability of any particular player.”

However, the report added that among the names mentioned, it is Sancho who Manchester United is “most likely” to sign.

“Of the identified quartet the purchase of Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho is currently the most likely to occur and Kane’s the most remote, with Manchester City viewed as favorites to sign Tottenham’s Premier League Golden Boot winner,” the article read.

Solskjaer had earlier revealed that Manchester United is already working on bolstering the squad.

Hence, the Red Devils boss admitted that there are players who might also leave the club.

“We're planning as we normally do. It's not like the end of the season and let's see what we do, that's an ongoing process,” Solskjaer said last week.

“We are looking at the squad, the players who are going to stay, those who might be leaving, and I hope that we're going to strengthen with a few.. two or three players that we definitely need to challenge higher up in the table,” he added. “We're still too far behind to think it is just going to come by itself.”
