  • Erling Haaland is arguably the biggest draw in the current transfer window
  • Haaland admitted that Borussia Dortmund has been pushing him to "make a decision"
  • Manchester United is still among the most-mentioned suitors of the prolific striker

Manchester United is unlikely to bring in one of its top priority transfer targets this window.

Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland has been on the radar of big-name clubs, including Manchester United, for a while now. His connection to his compatriot, former Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, added flavor to the swirling rumors that he may consider joining the English club.

Solskjaer is now out of the picture, but Manchester United is still constantly being linked to a swoop for Haaland. Nothing is concrete aside from Borussia Dortmund pressuring the prolific striker to make a decision. However, Haaland insisted that now is not the time to make a switch as he is focused on winning.

“The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision, but all I want to do is play football," Haaland told Viasport. "But they press me to make a decision now about my future. So that means I have to make a decision soon.”

"As I said they have put a lot of pressure on me and I have to accept that,” he continued. “I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for my club and the fans. But now it says itself that a lot of pressure is coming from the club, so now is the time to get things started.”

Haaland added, “I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football because that is when I am at my best. Not when other things come into my mind. They have put pressure [on me] for a while. So it is time to get started [negotiating]. [But] not now because we are in the middle of a difficult period with a lot of games. All I want to do is play football, but I can't do that now."

The current Manchester United squad is already stacked with world-class strikers. However, it appears that they are lacking team chemistry, and bringing in an elite player like Haaland could be a smart move.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still the club’s talisman, but rumors have claimed he is now exploring a move away from Old Trafford due to disappointment.

Despite all the rumors, Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick remains unfazed and has stressed that, contrary to reports claiming a number of players want to leave, nothing is reflecting on the pitch as the players have been dealing with it “in a professional way.”
