  • Manchester United have revived interest in Jadon Sancho
  • The club wants to sign Sancho prior to Euro 2021
  • They failed to sign Sancho this summer because of Dortmund's asking price

Manchester United reportedly have retained an interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and could use Chelsea’s strategy when they signed Christian Pulisic from the German club in 2019.

The Red Devils are aiming to secure the deal before the European Championship in 2021.

After failing to sign Sancho, Manchester United roped in Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri for $11 million, while they spent around $25 million-plus add ons on Atalanta's Amad Diallo. Unnamed sources have, however, confirmed to 90min that Sancho remains high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's wish list.

Sancho was Manchester United’s top target at the summer transfer window earlier this year, but a refusal to meet Dortmund’s demands saw the Solskjaer-managed side miss out on their target midfielder ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Man Utd refused to pay Dortmund’s asking price of over $141 million. It was previously reported that Sancho’s transfer would have cost Man Utd at least $292 million in total, which included Dortmund’s asking price of $141 million, plus Sancho’s wage demand and the fee asked by his agent, Emeka Obasi. The Red Devils decided that this was not feasible during their coronavirus-affected economic situation.

Solskjaer’s side has had a poor start to the 2020-21 Premier League season as they are placed 14th in the table after their opening seven matches and the boss has admitted that his side needs an elite right-winger like Sancho.

While Man Utd are aware that bringing Sancho to Old Trafford in January is next to impossible, the club is planning to seal a winter deal that would see the 20-year-old Englishman join them in the 2021 summer. It would be a similar move Chelsea made for Pulisic in January 2019, who eventually moved to the Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

The 90min report has also stated that while Man Utd officials are preparing a fresh bid for Sancho, the player’s thoughts on such an agreement are currently unclear.

Sancho, who scored 20 goals in 44 competitive appearances for Dortmund last season, has managed only two goals in nine matches for the Bundesliga side in the ongoing campaign. Earlier, Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre blamed Sancho's constant links with Man Utd for the player's slow start to the season.
