  • Manchester United interested in Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey and RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano
  • Ramsey is expected to leave Juventus after struggling to reach fine form
  • Upamecano becomes a top prospect following an impressive season with Leipzig

Manchester United is keen on signing Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus teammate Aaron Ramsey and RB Leipzig standout defender Dayot Upamecano as part of the team’s immediate rebuilding following its Europa League exit, reports said.

After being officially eliminated by Sevilla in the Europa League semi-finals, United is determined to bounce back by targeting a few notable signings this summer.

The Red Devils are now the latest suitors of struggling Juventus midfielder Ramsey, who is expected to part ways with the Serie A champ soon, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported.

Ramsey left England last summer after spending 11 years playing for Arsenal. He moved to Juventus on a free transfer and was expected to play a key role as a playmaker. However, the move hasn't gone completely as planned as the Welshman struggled to fit in at the Old Lady. Ramsey spent most of his time with Juve on the bench, and the majority of his appearances came from substitutions.

Following Juventus’ elimination from the Champions League, the club’s newly appointed manager, Andrea Pirlo, is keen on a major revamp this summer. Ramsey is one of several players who could be up for sale, with his fee expected to be around €25 million ($29 million), the report said.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also knows that defense is one of the major adversities United has dealt with this past season. The club is evidently looking to strengthen its defense ahead of next season, with an array of defenders being linked to a possible move to Old Trafford.

One of the latest star defenders rumored to be on United’s radar is RB Leipzig youngster Upamecano. Chelsea and Real Madrid were among the early suitors of Upamecano, but United recently decided to join the bidding for the Frenchman, The Athletic reported.

After completing a spectacular season at Leipzig, Upamecano became one of the most sought after prospects across Europe. The report noted that the 21-year-old’s game would be suited for Solskjaer’s system.

Upamecano agreed to leave the Bundesliga club before 2021, but several big clubs are already monitoring his situation as early as now. He managed to maintain fine form, playing a total of 38 matches for Leipzig and starting 37 of them.

Prior to being linked to a transfer move this summer, Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche insisted that despite all the rumors swirling around, Upamecano will stay with them until next season.
