• Paul Pogba is expected to extend his contract for Manchester United
  • One transfer target Manchester United has under their radar is Boubakary Soumare
  • Soumare has been a consistent defensive midfielder for Lille

The news of Paul Pogba extending his contract with Manchester United has been a positive sign for the club. To complement these stories, the Red Devils have been reported to regain their interest in Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

With everything that has happened to Manchester United, one of the more crucial developments includes Pogba’s disposition with the team. It was speculated before that Soumare was a possible replacement for Pogba if ever he decided to leave the club.

Despite being surrounded by rumors and a desire to leave, Pogba has turned things around as the leader for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s roster. The inclusion of Bruno Fernandes has also become one of the team’s strong points that propelled the organization's morale higher than ever.

The current estimated market value of Pogba is at 80 million Euros for the four-time Italian Champion. The 27-year-old’s agent Mino Raiola shared that Pogba has made a commitment to stay at Manchester United.

“Pogba is key player for Man United, they have an important project and he’s 100 percent included. Man Utd will not accept any bid on this summer to sell Pogba,” Raiola said by way of Fansided’s Red Devil Armada.

With this predicament, the transfer rumors for Soumare have also returned, as it appears the Lille rising star is still within Solskjaer’s radar. The highly coveted midfielder is often compared to Pogba and now has further garnered interest from other teams such as AC Milan. If ever the young 21-year-old ends up playing for Old Trafford, he should be a great addition to Pogba’s leadership sticking around.

“He is not the type to make controversy, especially in a moment where you have to stay calm and see how it turns out. We will deal with the renewal calmly, without stress. We will continue to talk about it,” Raiola added about Pogba.

In a total of 164 appearances for the club, Pogba has managed to score 32 times and dish out 33 assists on the field. While he suffered a long stretch injured in the latest Premier League, his return rallied back an incredible run that allowed the team to finish third overall that’s good enough to qualify for next year’s Champions League. The veteran presence of Pogba can complement the potential Soumare has as seen in his 70 matches for Lille as a defensive midfielder.

The club is still looking to get better in months to come with Pogba staying. It will be interesting to monitor how big of an impact Pogba will have if they’re also able to land Sourmare.
