  • Martin Dubravka has a contract with Newcastle until 2025
  • Man Utd first considered a move for Dubravka in January
  • The Red Devils are looking for a new No. 2 to David de Gea

Manchester United have reportedly made an offer for Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

The Red Devils want Slovakia's Dubravka to join them on loan as they are looking for a new number two to David de Gea, reported The Athletic. Earlier this summer, they let Dean Henderson move on a season-long loan to Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United considered signing Dubravka in January when Newcastle made a move for Henderson.

The Old Trafford side has been linked with a series of goalkeepers in recent weeks, including Alex McCarthy, Kevin Trapp, Yann Sommer, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Daniel Bachmann and Giorgi Mamardashvili - but Dubravka has emerged as a feasible target. The Newcastle goalkeeper's current contract with The Saints is until 2025.

Newcastle signed glovesman Nick Pope from Burnley ahead of the 2022-23 season. He has now established himself as St. James' Park's new No. 1. So, 33-year-old Dubravka is open to joining Manchester United before the summer window ends on Sept. 1, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Dubravka was not even in Newcastle's squad for Wednesday's 2-1 League Cup win over Tranmere.

Daniel Zik, Dubravka's agent, has admitted his client was frustrated. However, it is still unclear if the Slovakia goalkeeper would like to battle with De Gea for game time at Manchester United.

"He wants to play. Either in Newcastle or somewhere else. He doesn't just want to cover someone's back, but he clearly wants to be in goal," Zik said, according to 90Min.

Zik also confirmed there is interest from an English club for his client. "Yes, there are. But I really can't be more specific at this point," the agent added.

Three games into the 2022-23 Premier League season, Newcastle have one win and two defeats, the same as Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag finally registered his maiden victory as the Red Devils' coach Monday when his side hosted arch-rivals Liverpool. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho scored in their side's 2-1 victory over Jurgen Klopp's side. Mohamed Salah scored the consolation goal for Liverpool.

Manchester United will travel next to Southampton to take on The Saints at St. Mary's on Saturday. Newcastle's next league game is on Sunday as they face off against Wolves in an away fixture.
