  • Erling Haaland is currently contracted with Dortmund until 2024
  • He has scored 82 career goals in 126 senior matches
  • He remains one of Solskjaer's top targets ahead of the next transfer window

Erling Haaland remains one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top targets for the 2021 summer. However, the relationship between Manchester United and Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola has made the deal "complicated."

Solskjaer was desperate to sign Haaland during the 2020 January transfer window when the striker was still at RB Salzburg. The Norwegian playmaker, who was chased by many European clubs, eventually ended at Borussia Dortmund. Man Utd boss Solskjaer, who had worked with Haaland before at Molde, was keen on bringing Haaland to Old Trafford. The negotiations did not go well and the situation remains the same because of Raiola’s presence in Haaland’s management team, The Athletic reported.

Last season, when Manchester United failed to sign Haaland, the Red Devils roped in Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon and the signing turned out to be a boon for Solskjaer's side. The Portuguese midfielder has scored 15 goals in 43 appearances for Manchester United since his debut earlier this year.

Raiola, who is called the Super-Agent in European soccer, has elite players such as Paul Pogba and Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt on his client list apart from Haaland. Raiola has never had the best relationship with Manchester United. Recently, Raiola found himself in the middle of yet another controversy when he claimed that Pogba’s run at Manchester United was over and he has begun to look for a new club for Pogba. The timing of Raiola’s comments was considered to be poor as it was on the eve of the Red Devils’ Champions League clash with RB Leipzig earlier this season.

The report has also stated that Manchester United may go after Everton forward Dominic Calvert Lewin in January if they fail to sign Haaland in January.

Haaland, who is already linked with top European clubs such as Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Liverpool, is currently contracted with Dortmund until 2024. The newest club to join the race to sign the 20-year-old striker is Chelsea, according to 90min.

It was earlier reported that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is seeing Haaland as a long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the near future.

Haaland, who will turn 21 in July, has already netted 82 career goals in 126 matches since his senior debut in 2017.
