  • Dortmund have reportedly turned down Man Utd's bid for Jadon Sancho
  • They are demanding $140 million for Sancho
  • Sancho still has two years left in his current contract

Borrusia Dortmund has reportedly turned down Manchester United’s latest bid for Jadon Sancho as the 2020 summer transfer window is underway.

It was known that after securing the Champions League spot for the next season, Man Utd would begin their bid to sign Dortmund’s Sancho, who has been their top target over the last few months.

According to German publication BILD, Man Utd made an offer of $114 million for the 20-year-old midfielder, which got rejected as the Bundesliga side is adamant on not selling its player for anything less than $140 million despite the current financial crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After a poor first half of the 2019-20 Premier League season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turned tables around. In their final league match of the season, his side defeated Leicester City to finish third in the Premier League table, while that result saw the King Power Stadium side slip outside the top four.

It was earlier reported that while Man Utd have been desperate to sign Sancho, a move to Old Trafford is also the player’s "dream move."

Sancho, who kickstarted his youth career at Watford, moved to Manchester City when he was 14. The English midfielder then moved from Etihad to Dortmund in 2017 for a mere fee of $10 million. Sancho made his senior-team debut during the 2017-18 season and scored one goal in 12 appearances in his maiden first-team campaign. Sancho netted 13 goals in the 2018-19 season before unleashing his brilliance this season, where he scored 20 goals in as many as 44 competitive matches.

Meanwhile, it is also understood that Dortmund have begun to scout a replacement for Sancho, who has two years still left in their current contract but the German team is prepared to make a sale. The BILD report has further disclosed that Dortmund have identified Jonathan Ikone of French club Lille as an ideal replacement for Sancho.

As of now, Sancho is expected to return to training Thursday, July 30, as Dortmund aim to challenge Bayern Munich in 2020-21 after the latter claimed eighth successive Bundesliga title this campaign.
