  • Juventus want to remove Ronaldo from their wage structure
  • Ronaldo earns around $1.05 million per week
  • He netted 36 goals for Juventus last season

Manchester City reportedly are not interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo, who is forcing himself out of Juventus ahead of the deadline day of the 2021 summer market.

Juventus are open to selling Ronaldo, who is expected to be available for less than $41 million, reported soccer media outlet 90min.

Ronaldo, who spent six years in Manchester during his stint at Old Trafford between 2003 and 2009, believes he can secure a deal from Manchester City before the summer transfer window ends on Aug. 31, according to French publication L'Equipe. Ronaldo has gone to the extent of contacting his Portugal teammates in the City squad, including Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo – to pull off a move.

It was earlier reported that Ronaldo's super-agent Jorge Mendes had offered the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to the Etihad side for as low as $36 million. While it was believed that Manchester City were looking at Ronaldo as an alternate option to Harry Kane, the 90min report has claimed otherwise.

With the 2021-22 season underway, Ronaldo has just one year left on his current contract at Juventus. Even though the Serie A club has repetitively said Ronaldo will continue in Turin, it is understood Juventus are looking to remove Ronaldo from their wage structure because of his mammoth salary as he is still one of the highest paid players in Europe with a weekly pay of around $1.05 million.

Meanwhile, there have also been rumors that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are seeing Ronaldo as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is tipped to join Real Madrid. However, it has also been reported that PSG are now seeing Everton's Richarlison as Mbappe's replacement this summer.

Ronaldo's transfer to Manchester City won't be an easy move because of his close association with Etihad side's rivals Manchester United. After leaving Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo's career really took off at Old Trafford. As a Red Devil, Ronaldo netted 118 goals and helped his side win three Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy. He also won his first of the five Ballon d'Or trophies as a Manchester United player.

Even at 36, Ronaldo is the best player at Juventus. He top-scored for the Italian club in the 2020-21 season, with 36 goals, 16 more than second-placed Álvaro Morata. Ronaldo, who left Real Madrid to join Juventus in the summer of 2018, has flourished in Italy since then. Overall, the star forward has netted 101 goals and provided 22 assists in as many as 134 appearances for Juventus, across all competitions.
