  • Manchester United is still considering a move for Ruben Neves
  • Bruno Fernandes is also looking forward to having Neves at Old Trafford
  • Arsenal likewise wants to sign the Wolves star to upgrade its midfield

Bruno Fernandes has been quite active in suggesting potential signings to Manchester United.

A change in Manchester United's midfield is looming as Paul Pogba continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

There have been a few names reportedly on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar, and one of them is Wolverhampton Wanderers and Portugal attacker Ruben Neves.

Providing a fresh update on Neves’ situation, famed transfer insider Dean Jones said Arsenal is still leading the race to sign the Portuguese, but Manchester United is “still” in the mix.

“I’m told that the [Ruben] Neves pursuit is genuine and while Arsenal is definitely the most active in that transfer in trying to get it over the line, [Manchester] United are still in the conversation,” Jones recently said on “The Football Terrace” podcast.

Jones further revealed that Fernandes is “very keen” on bringing in his national team co-star to Manchester United.

“Bruno Fernandes is particularly obviously very keen for Neves to come and join and I think the club is aware of that,” he stated.

It is becoming more and more apparent that Neves is among the most in-demand midfielders in the market this summer.

According to Duncan Castles, who is also a reputable transfer insider and journalist, Arsenal has yet to complete Granit Xhaka’s move to AS Roma, but the interest has been firm.

Hence, the Gunners view Neves as a “significant upgrade” in the midfield.

"Ruben Neves, a deal we flagged up to you a couple of months ago that Neves was of interest to Arsenal and that they'd done the preliminary work on trying to recruit him from Wolverhampton Wanderers," Castles said on “The Transfer Window” podcast.

"There is competition but they see him as a significant upgrade on the midfielders they have. Midfield is an area of the team that they need to reinforce. They're trying to sell Granit Xhaka to Roma. No agreement on price as of yet but Xhaka wants that move."

If recent reports are to be accurate, Wolves might demand around £35 million ($47.6 million) for Neves’ exit.

Fernandes, meanwhile, has been vocal about his desire to improve Manchester United’s squad.

Prior to Neves, the Portuguese star had earlier teased about the possible arrival of his former Udinese teammate Piotr Zielinski to Old Trafford.

"He’s a top guy, I like him a lot,” Fernandes said of Zielinski this past May. “He is one of the people I met in Italy with whom I am in touch all the time. I spoke to him a few months ago and told him that I would like to play with him again. So, who knows what the future has waiting for us. For me, he is a really, really top player."
