  • Manchester United may be interested in Liverpool target Ozan Kabak, a report says
  • Kabak is expected to be sold for a bargain price
  • Red Devils could still pursue Jadon Sancho and Dayot Upamecano

Despite not being linked to major signings this coming transfer window, Manchester United could be eyeing a move for Ozan Kabak.

With just hours away from the opening of the January transfer window, the Red Devils have yet to plot a swoop for some of the biggest names in the market. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has now set its sights on Schalke center-back Kabak, Italian outlet Tutto Mercato reported.

Just over a week ago, Liverpool was among the favorites to sign Kabak, but the report stated that United is now ready to compete for his signature as well.

According to the report, the Red Devils are looking to inject youth into their central defensive options, with Kabak presenting a strong case to be a credible candidate.

Schalke is reportedly dealing with financial issues at the moment and is ready to cash in on the 20-year-old to stay afloat. Given the situation, clubs interested in Kabak are expected to try and snap him up for a bargain price in this month’s transfer window, the report added.

Outside the English Premier League, Kabak is also said to be drawing interest from Serie A side AC Milan.

Meanwhile, United is believed to be planning to pursue a couple of past top prospects who could be available for the right price, Goal reported.

While Kabak appears to be a good addition in the center-back, United’s right wing is still one of the areas that need to be revamped. According to the Goal report, versatile winger and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is still included in Solskjaer and Ed Woodward’s transfer wishlist.

Apart from Sancho, the Red Devils are also believed to be keeping an eye on RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

As for the departures, the biggest name linked to an exit is still United’s midfield star Paul Pogba. Over the last few weeks, Pogba’s transfer has been one of the most talked-about stories in the Premier League with the Frenchman being tipped to return to Juventus.

But according to Pogba, Solskjaer still wants him to stay and do his “best” on the pitch.

"Give it your best," the 27-year-old recently told Stadium Astro when asked about what Solskjaer told him about his situation. "I give my best to be on the pitch, to play and give my best for the team.”

"I can play left, right, anywhere,” he continued. “I just give all I've got just to help the team the most I can."
