According to the latest reports, Premiership giants Manchester United are alerted by the development of Italian Serie A side Fiorentina's young Serbian defender Matija Nastasic and are preparing a handsome bid to lure away the player to the Old Trafford.

Nastasic, 19, has already drawn praises from Fiorentina boss Delio Rossi who believes that the young Serb has the potential to develop into a better defender than fellow Serbian defender and Manchester United player Nemanja Vidic.

United, over the past months, have made a host of young signings as a part of boss Sir Alex Ferguson's aim to rebuild the side and his plan to start working on the future of the club. Now the youngster is the latest player who has the boss's attention and may make a switch to United as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

Fiorentina, as per a Tribal Football report, were approached by United previously but the Stadio Artemio Franchi-based side was not interested to make any negotiations for the player.

Nastasic, who arrived from Serbian SuperLiga club Partizan Belgrade last season, has made 23 appearances for the Florence-based side in all competitions.
