  • Former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke has high praises for Greenwood's potential

The stellar play of Manchester United has shown in recent months can be attributed to the team’s newly improved chemistry. One of the many factors that can be linked to the team’s success is how well the duo of Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford has performed. Former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has some high praises for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s young stars.

With Manchester United boasting a revitalized sense of cohesiveness as a team, Solskjaer has slowly put more faith in his developing stars. Players such as Rashford and Greenwood have benefitted from the culture of the club. The team is well conditioned and is peaking in terms of physical fitness due to the leadership of the club. Big names such as Paul Pogba have gained newfound confidence as an offensive star ever since the team signed Bruno Fernandes.

Per Goal.com, Yorke mentioned that the improvement of the young stars is one of the club’s strengths. This has been an important direction Solskjaer has emphasized as the growth of these young players can prove to be pivotal to their success. This is especially true for Greenwood, as he has been playing phenomenal football as of late.

"He is getting all the praise right now because he is certainly hot at the moment with what he is doing. The trend at United is that the young players have always been getting chances,” Yorke said.

For the former star, Yorke also highlighted the incredible skills that Greenwood and Rashford have displayed. While he acknowledges Rashford’s abilities, he sees Greenwood developing even faster than anyone.

"Mason is a defender's nightmare. If you look at us in the last 2-3 years, we have been passing sideways, now these guys are driving teams back into their own area. He is a fantastic talent,” Yorke added.

The potential is all there for the duo but he stresses that Solskjaer’s presence is crucial for the maturity of the potential they possess, especially for players like Greenwood.

"He is better than Rashford, looking at his record now. You got to understand though he is still 18, at a development stage. Having Ole there, he would guide him along the way," Yorke concluded.

It will be interesting to see how Manchester United adjusts its lineup for the coming years and if they’ll be able to take advantage of all of the talents they have in their squad.
