Marcus Rashford is reportedly desperate to impress Manchester United’s new boss Erik ten Hag.

Rashford experienced a miserable run in the 2021-22 season, which began on the sidelines. To play in Euros 2020, he delayed a shoulder injury, which he eventually underwent in the summer of 2021. He missed 10 games at the beginning of the campaign as he was recovering from the surgery.

After returning to action, Rashford made just 13 starts in the Premier League and overall made only 32 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions, scoring four goals. Under interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s charge, Rashford struggled to receive regular game time and as a result, lost his place in the England national team.

While it had been speculated that Rashford would part ways with the Red Devils to bring his soccer career back on track, the player is certain that he wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place under Ten Hag, reported The Telegraph.

In the second half of the 2021-22 season, the Red Devils began to favor Jadon Sancho over Rashford in the left wing, while the latter even failed to build a rapport with Cristiano Ronaldo on the field.

Rashford, who missed Manchester United’s final two league fixtures, which ended in a loss to Brighton and Crystal Palace due to bronchitis, ended the campaign with a goal drought, with the Englishman last scoring in the league back in January.

The 24-year-old forward has just a year left on his contract with Manchester United. If the club and player do not reach an agreement over an extension, the Red Devils would want to cash in on Rashford as his current market value is around $75 million, according to Transfermarkt.

Earlier it was reported that the Old Trafford side was planning to include Rashford, along with Alex Tellas, in a deal that would see Frenkie de Jong move from Barcelona to Manchester.

Several top European clubs are monitoring Rashford’s current situation at Manchester United, including Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, according to Sports Illustrated. With Robert Lewandowski on his way out of Allianz Arena, Rashford could be a fine long-term replacement at Bayern.

Manchester United finished sixth in the 2021-22 Premier League. As a result, they failed to secure Champions League soccer for next season.
