Mariah Carey has more than one surprise for her fans. The legendary songstress, amid the interview about her new album and upcoming memoir, unexpectedly revealed that she would release a new song this coming Friday.

During an interview with Good Morning America, Carey shared how she came up and prepared for her new album, “The Rarities,” and at the same time, her realizations while drafting her upcoming memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.” It was at that moment when the 50-year-old diva suddenly revealed that she would drop a new song on Aug. 21.

“It’s been an interesting journey and I hope people will get a better understanding and actually enjoy reading the book and listening to “The Rarities” and I have a new song coming out this Friday,” Carey said.

The “Always Be My Baby” singer further revealed that the song, whose title was momentarily kept in secret,” was something she started working with the American rapper, Jermaine Dupri, a few years back. Carey did not give too much detail on her upcoming song but she shared her excitement with this new endeavor.

It has been two years since Carey released “Caution,” which was her15th studio album. Carey earlier announced that “The Rarities” would be released on Oct. 2 but fans could pre-order it at mariahcarey.lnk.to/Rarities.

The album, according to Carey, would contain songs in which were kept in her vault —the unreleased ones. There would be 15 songs in “The Rarities” and its bonus set would have 17 recordings cut live at the Tokyo Dome, Billboard reported.

The Lambs, meanwhile, assured the songstress through a series of tweets that they would be promoting, streaming and buying her new album. Meanwhile, some of them have already pre-ordered the album.

Last month, the songstress confirmed that her memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey," was set to drop on Sept. 29. When asked at Good Morning America what was the most difficult thing she had to write about, she revealed that she wrote about her childhood.

Carey described those experiences as difficult but cathartic. Hence, she said the memoir was very personal for her.
