A married high school teacher was charged with criminal sexual abuse for having sex with a 14-year-old boy. Dayna Chidester, of Illinois, appeared in court Friday along with her husband after being accused of having sex romps with the teenager.

Chidester, who worked as a nutrition teacher at Reed-Custer High School, could also face child porn charges for allegedly sexting the minor and sharing explicit nude photos before they had sex, ABC 7 reported. The 50-year-old was arrested on Jan. 3 and Will County Judge Ted Jarz set her bail at $1 million.

According to reports, investigators received a tip about the teacher's alleged sexual activities with the teenage boy following which the victim was interviewed. Police said the teen did not attend the school where Chidester taught, but was a resident of Manhattan, Illinois, where the teacher resides.

Chidester and the teenager, who has not been named, started communicating in September 2018. They later started sending each other naked photos before allegedly having sex, according to ABC. The pair reportedly had sex multiple times and at different locations, including Chidester's home, her vehicle and local motels.

Chidester, who is due back in court on Jan. 29, faces charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child and unlawful grooming.

Following her arrest, Chidester resigned from her position at Reed-Custer High School. She was also barred from having contact with students from the school, according to a statement from the school district.

Earlier this month, a North Carolina middle school teacher who was arrested for having sex with her 15-year-old foster son, faced additional charges over messages she sent to the teenager on social media despite being warned against it. Christina Davis Jolly, 43, was accused of emailing and talking to the boy following her arrest in Statesville in August 2018. Jolly, who was released on $200,000 bond, was charged with violation of a pretrial release condition.

In another incident last year, a 33-year-old Indiana woman was arrested after being accused of having sex with a minor. The married woman, a mother of two, was in a sexual relationship with the teenager and also performed oral sex. The pair had sex multiple times and the woman told the boy if their relationship went public then her husband “would kill them both.” However, police learned about the incident and she was charged.

Meanwhile, in December, a former social worker in Florida was sentenced to six years in prison for having sex with a teenager she had adopted. Lauren Michelle Myres — a 26-year-old woman — was charged back in May following a tip to authorities indicating she was having an inappropriate relationship with the 17-year-old victim.
