Daniel Ricciardo, an Italian-Australian driver who races for McLaren Formula 1 team, has partnered with global cryptocurrency exchange OKX. The F1 pilot will become the exchange's ambassador during the 2022/23 season and lead an educational campaign for F1 fans, focusing on crypto’s merits.

According to a statement released Thursday, apart from serving as an ambassador, the driver will support a global campaign that will aim to popularize cryptocurrencies among F1 fans and educate them on how to enter the digital asset universe.

Besides, designers will create a special edition racing helmet with OKX’s logo, which Ricciardo will wear during the ongoing racing season. Ricciardo will display the new outfit at the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix on May 29.

McLaren’s pilot said he’s “honored” to collaborate with the crypto platform, describing it as a leader in the industry.

"It is an exciting time in the world of crypto, the possibilities are endless. I'm honored to partner with OKX, who is one of the leaders in this space. They truly value their customers, and education transparency and security are paramount to them. The fan experience is going to be at the center of everything we do together, so expect big things from us this year. Game on!" Ricciardo said.

Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer at OKX, said: "After spending time with Daniel talking about his passion for crypto trading but more importantly his desire to learn, it was obvious he is a seamless fit for OKX. The loveable F1 favorite will be integral in helping us expand the reach of OKX, supercharge the fan experience and educate new audiences on the benefits of trading responsibly with crypto. We are thrilled to be able to announce our long-term partnership ahead of the iconic Monaco Grand Prix, a race that is so special to Daniel."

The F1 team stepped into the non-fungible token universe last year by launching its NFT platform on the Tezos blockchain. The feature was called “McLaren Racing Collective,” and it gave supporters a chance “to own a piece” of their favorite brand by purchasing digital collectibles.
