  • A source claimed that Jessica Mulroney and Meghan Markle's friendship hasn't been the same for a while now
  • The Duchess of Sussex was allegedly waiting for the right time to cut ties with the stylist
  • Mulroney was recently called out for allegedly threatening a black influencer

Meghan Markle’s friendship with Jessica Mulroney was allegedly already on the rocks before the stylist stirred controversy with her “white privilege” statements that were branded as “tone-deaf.”

A Page Six source revealed that Mulroney’s outrageous remarks were allegedly just a good excuse for the Duchess of Sussex to cut ties with her pal. The two are longtime friends who first met in Canada, with the stylist responsible for introducing the former actress to a posh circle in Toronto.

In fact, the ladies are so close that Mulroney’s three kids had special roles in Markle’s May 2018 nuptials with Prince Harry. Despite their friendship, the former “Suits” star has allegedly felt that her friend is “benefitting” from being her close pal and stylist, an insider claimed.

In fact, the “white privilege” controversy “has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good,” a source added.

After Markle and Prince Harry's highly televised royal wedding in 2018, Mulroney went on to land several projects, including reality show “I Do, Redo” and “Good Morning America.” However, given her actions against influencer Sasha Exeter, she lost both of these gigs. According to reports, she shed buckets of tears upon learning that she was axed off the morning show.

“I don’t know what the tipping point was, but Jess has been on the outs for some time. Their friendship is definitely not what it was. And really, how can you have such a close friendship when one person is basically making a career out of the friendship?” another source explained.

To make things more complicated, Markle’s son, Archie, is Mulroney’s godchild.

Meanwhile, Mulroney made headlines this week after she took offense to an influencer’s call to action to fellow social media stars who remained silent in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Sasha Exeter expressed her disappointment over powerful people who don’t utilize their platform to speak up about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Although Exeter didn’t name any specific person, Mulroney was apparently hurt by what she said and blocked her on social media. In addition, the stylist allegedly threatened to end the black influencer’s career by using her power.

Mulroney sent a scathing letter to Exeter, who then publicized the whole ordeal in a lengthy Instagram video.

“Listen, I am by no means calling Jess a racist but what I will say is this: She is very well aware of her wealth, her perceived power and privilege because of the color of her skin,” Exeter said in the clip. “And that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing. Textbook white privilege, really, in my personal opinion.”
