Meghan Markle has been slammed for not extending an olive branch to her dad Thomas Markle Sr.

Angela Mollard, a royal journalist, spoke on New Idea magazine’s podcast “Royals” and said that Markle’s decision to continue ignoring her dad is not necessarily the smartest move. According to Mollard, Markle meeting with her father will be seen by everyone as her way of extending an olive branch.

“If he then goes and reports on that meeting, she’s then within her rights to really finally stop all contact with him. That fact that she’s not doing that, I think, speaks volumes about how she really does feel about her family and how she wants to separate from them,” Mollard said.

The expert also offered her opinion on how Kensington Palace may urge the Duchess of Sussex to talk to her father. She said that the palace has more experience dealing with all sorts of issues than Markle. As such, the palace should encourage Markle to talk to her dad as soon as possible.

“She’s a 37-year-old woman, she’s not going to be bossed around by courtiers, even if, in this case, I suspect they would know best,” she said.

Earlier this week, Mollard also talked about Thomas and said that the 74-year-old should show some dignity amid his rift with his daughter. The journalist is convinced that the Duchess of Sussex may finally talk to her dad if Thomas will stop giving interviews.

According to Mollard, Thomas should also stop playing the victim if he really wants to hear from Prince Harry’s wife. Last week, the former lighting director called Prince Harry arrogant during his interview with The Sun. Thomas also urged the Duke of Sussex to man up amid his family’s feud.

Markle and Thomas last spoke to each other before the royal wedding on May 19. Prior to the big event, Thomas was invited to the nuptials, and he was also asked to walk his daughter down the aisle. However, Thomas was unable to make it to the church because of his heart attack.
