Meghan Markle was recently praised by her good friend, Serena Williams, after the Duchess of Sussex’s cookbook was launched.

On Monday, the professional tennis player shared a photo of Markle’s book, “Together: Our Community Cookbook,” via her Instagram account.

“I used to call you Meghan (and I still do) but dear Duchess of Sussex, your first project ‘Together’ a cookbook bringing women of all cultures together. I could not be more excited about it and proud of you. It’s beautiful – diversity, inclusivity, coming together in grief and joy – there is just so much love. The link, which was shared on Williams’ social media account, leads to a clip narrated by Markle. She tells the story of the Hubb Community Kitchen, which was launched after the Grenfell fire as a way for those who were affected to connect, cook together and share recipes.

Also in the clip, it was revealed that Markle came up with the idea of releasing a cookbook after she learned that the community kitchen only functioned twice a week.

“I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen. Like these women I’m passionate about food and cooking as a way of strengthening communities,” Markle said.

In the book’s introduction, the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen wrote, “Our kitchen has always been a place of good food, love, support, and friendship. We cook the recipes we’ve grown up with.”

In related news, Williams and Markle became close years before the royal met Prince Harry. The athlete was one of the A-listers who was invited to the couple’s royal wedding. In July, Williams paid tribute to Markle after she completed this year’s Wimbledon.

“We always had a wonderful friendship. Every year for a couple years she comes out to Wimbledon, has supported me… Now she’s supporting me in a different role but our friendship is still exactly the same. We always have supported each other, just been there for each other through a lot,” she said.
