Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are the bottom two in the recent survey about the most eco-friendly royal family members. Prince Charles topped the list and has been named the most eco-friendly royal.

Save on Energy evaluated the 10 senior members of the royal family based on six variables: travel footprint, attendance to environmental engagements, links to environmental charities and patronages, sustainable fashion press mentions, social media posts about environmental issues and electric car ownership. The survey results showed that Prince Charles topped the chart with 156 points. Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex only had 9 points each and were ranked the bottom two.

Prince Harry and Markle were awarded points for owning an electric car. The duchess' loyalty to sustainable fashion brands also earned her points. But they were at the bottom because they had the least environmental charity engagements between March 2019 and March 2020. Also, Prince Harry and Markle had the worst carbon footprint based on the data obtained for the survey.

Princess Anne was also among the least eco-friendly royals and was just one point above Prince Harry and Markle’s score. Although she supports eight different environmental charities and sports sustainable fashion, she didn't attend many environmental engagements within the given period.

Prince Edward and Prince William were among the top 5 least eco-friendly royals, too. The Duke of Cambridge had a 15-point deduction for his travel footprint, placing him among the bottom royals.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, was the second most eco-friendly royal. The Duchess of Cornwall had a total of 84 points despite having deductions for her high carbon footprint. Camilla made up for it through her environmental engagements and social media posts about climate and pollution issues.

Prince Philip, Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II were also among the top 5 most eco-friendly royals. The Duke of Edinburgh earned 44 points, the Duchess of Cambridge had 29, and the Queen got 23 points.

Meanwhile, Markle had the most sustainable fashion record with 10 points. Middleton came second with 6 points. Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth II and Camilla completed the top 5 in this category. For the sustainable fashion record category, the royals earned 1 point whenever they wore eco-friendly brands or recycled their wardrobes.
