Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s “tactless jibe” at Kate Middleton and Prince William speaks volumes about their current relationship status.

According to Milly Haddrick of New Idea, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s statement about their social justice causes was a “tactless jibe” at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. She also described the act as a “low blow.”

“Rumors of a rift between the two royal brothers have been persistent for months now, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's latest interview seem to suggest relations haven’t gotten much better,” Haddrick wrote.

When Markle guest-edited the September issue of British Vogue, she was asked if she would like to appear on the cover. According to magazine editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, Prince Harry’s wife declined because it would appear “boastful.”

Many believed that Markle was throwing shade at Middleton who graced the magazine cover three years ago for its centenary issue. Meanwhile, others accused Markle of being a hypocrite for saying so.

“I think that’s hypocrisy on a grand scale. She has been on covers of big magazines as well, she was on the cover just before she was married,” commentator Carole Malone said.

Markle graced the cover of Vanity Fair in the run-up to her royal wedding to Prince Harry. Also, as a former celebrity, gracing the cover of different magazines is not new to her. Aside from Middleton, Princess Diana also appeared on the cover of Vogue not just once but four times.

On the other hand, many felt that Prince Harry also threw shade at his big brother, Prince William, when he talked about having two kids maximum. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have three children. Some sources said that they might even add another one.

“Wow, now Harry says it’s bad to have 3 children… dig at W&K?” one netizen reacted.

In related news, it was reported recently that Middleton’s engagement ring originally belonged to Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge took different items that Princess Diana owned as keepsake.

Prince Harry picked Princess Diana’s engagement ring. Meanwhile, Prince William chose their mother’s Cartier watch. However, they reportedly agreed that whoever got engaged first would have the late Princess of Wales’ engagement ring.

Princess Diana’s butler had another story. According to Paul Burrell, Prince Harry offered the ring to Prince William when he was about to propose to Middleton saying, “Wouldn’t it be fitting if she had mummy’s ring?” Burrell described the act as “selfless, kind and exactly who Diana was.”
