The fashion choices that are made by the British royal family continuously intrigue fans. At times, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have made subtle differences in their royal style choices. Now, a professor recently shared that she believes the Duchess of Sussex is clearly and intentionally trying to separate herself from the Duchess of Cambridge by making specific choices.

According to the Sun, Professor Carolyn Mair, who is also the author of "The Psychology of Fashion," revealed to Fabulous Digital that the former "Suits" actress is seemingly taking different steps so that she stands apart from Kate.

Not only does Mair believe that Meghan may be attempting to combat her critics through her clothing choices, but she also feels as though the royal may be relying on style choices to cope with the difficulties she has had with the media. "Perhaps she thinks by wearing expensive pieces she'll be lauded for that," Mair contemplated. adding, "She wasn't very happy - perhaps this is the way that she makes herself happy."

Additionally, the author said that she believed Meghan uses her wardrobe to send a message by wearing pricey pieces. "She's trying to say that she doesn't have to follow the rules," she said, due to the fact that the rest of the family attempts to "play down" what they wear.

"Meghan is making a statement it's to be different, to be in contrast to Kate and to show that she can afford to be," she continued, adding, "Kate always seems so complicit and compliant that perhaps she also wants to make a statement and that it's the opposite of Meghan."

The expert also noted that Kate employs a stylist, unlike Meghan, which has caused some of the Duchess of Sussex's "errors" in the past.

However, Meghan and Kate's royal fashion choices haven't always worked in contrast. In recent months, some followers noticed that they had started pairing cheaper earrings with more expensive dresses, which is said to have been a choice worth analyzing. Additionally, they also decided to wear the same color on their separate royal tours this year, which some called a "strategic" choice.
