Michelle Branch opened up about the devastating loss that she and her husband experienced during the holidays.

On Saturday, Branch took to Instagram and shared that she and her husband, Patrick Carney, suffered a miscarriage just days before the year ends. The "All You Wanted" singer shared a series of photos showing her with her husband, their 2-year-old son Rhys, her teenage daughter Owen and her sister and spoke about how this year hit her and her family hard.

"Just when we were rounding third and heading home (A baseball metaphor?! I know.) 2020 was like, 'nah, I ain’t done yet,'" she wrote. "December decided to really finish us off with a bang! No, literally. A bomb went off in downtown Nashville yesterday. And to further twist a dagger in my heart, I experienced my first miscarriage (ugh! Motherf----r!)."

Branch went on to say that she has been struggling to overcome the loss, but her loved ones have been all been there for her.

"But alas, between the crying and binge eating of Christmas cookies, I decided to put on lipstick and a dress," she explained. "We drank champagne alllll day. Made an incredible meal and sang Christmas songs snuggled up by a roaring fire. 5 more days until 2021. I’m limping to the finish line."

Branch added that she is thankful for her family with whom she spent the lockdowns this year.

"These people, my precious family, my husband, sister and kids have been the MVP’s. I couldn’t imagine spending a year isolated with anyone else. Happy Christmas, everyone xx,” she concluded.

In February 2018, Branch announced that she was expecting her first child with Carney. In a post on Instagram, she shared the sonogram of their baby and announced that they would push back their big day for their little one.

"Well, we were just about to send out Save The Dates for our wedding in May when we got this little surprise wedding is postponed and Baby Carney is happening this summer! Patrick and I couldn’t be more excited! xx @officerpatrickcarney," she wrote.

Meanwhile, Branch shares daughter Owen Isabelle Landau, 15, with her ex-husband, Teddy Landau. Branch and Landau married on May 23, 2004, and split in 2014. Their divorce was finalized on Nov. 16, 2015.
