The second-generation Microsoft Band 2 price has been slashed significantly by the tech giant for a limited period of time. This deal is applicable only to the U.S. customers and upon placing the order, buyers can avail free shipping service.

Microsoft Store is now offering the Band 2 for $199.99, while the original price used to be $249.99. This means, buyers can save $50 with this deal.

The Microsoft Band 2 is available in three sizes namely small, medium and large. This device comes with 1.26 x 0.50-inch AMOLED display and 320 x 128 pixels resolution. The band material used by the tech giant is “thermal plastic elastomer silicone vulcanite.”

The lithium-polymer battery unit housed in the gear is capable of offering up to 48 hours of battery life. This device apparently takes less than 1 hour and 30 minutes to charge from 0 percent to 100 percent.

The Band 2 supports Bluetooth 4.0 and it is compatible with a slew of devices. This includes handsets running Windows Phone 8.1 update 2 or higher, Apple iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.1.2 and Android 4.4 or higher. The aforesaid devices can be paired to the smartband with the help of Bluetooth.

This gadget comes with an optical heart rate monitor, 3-axis accelerometer, GPS and UV sensor, to name a few. It can track steps, exercise, calories burnt and sleep. The GPS can track activities like running and biking.

The barometer, on the other hand, helps in measuring the elevation changes when climbing stairs, running or biking. Plus, the built-in microphone can be used to speak to Cortana, the personal digital assistant.
