Microsoft has recently released three new smartphones, Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550. Now, fresh speculations suggest that the Redmond-based technology giant is working on a successor handset for the Nokia Lumia 830 that was released last year. The alleged handset is called Lumia 830.

The Microsoft Lumia 850 is currently under the wraps, but popular tipster @OnLeaks has uploaded a GIF image of the mysterious handset. The image has been built on the basis of the internal sketches. It clearly shows that the handset will be coming with a protruding camera.

Like the newly released Lumia 950 and 950 XL handsets, the leaked image of the Lumia 850 also sports a Microsoft logo on the rear panel and a metallic frame along its edges. There is a speaker grille located at the bottom side of the panel. The news about the Lumia 830 came out few months. However, other sources claimed that the handset has been cancelled by Microsoft.

According to Phone Arena that cites information from Nowherelse.fr, the dimensions of the Lumia 850 are 155.9 x 77.23 x 6.92 mm. If this information turns out to be true, the Lumia 850 will become the slimmest Lumia smartphone ever. The Apple iPhone 6 from last year also measures 6.9 mm in thickness.

The dimensions of the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL are 151.9 x 78.4 x 8.1 mm. By comparing the measurements of the Lumia 850 with that of Lumia 950 XL shows that the Lumia 830 successor is a larger handset. The Lumia 950 XL houses a 5.7-inch Quad HD screen. Speculations are rife that the Lumia 850 will be sporting a larger display with full HD resolution.

The Nokia Lumia 830 was heavily criticized for two reasons, firstly for featuring a mediocre frontal camera of 0.9-megapixel and secondly for arriving with a low powered Snapdragon 400 SoC. Therefore, the Windows 10 Mobile-powered Microsoft Lumia 850 is likely to be arriving with enhanced rear camera of 10-megapixel and a selfie shooter of 5-megapixel along with a powerful chipset. Another leakster, @evleaks has claimed that the handset the selfie camera will be equipped with a front-facing flash.
