Microsoft is apparently not interested in releasing a refreshed version of the well-received Surface Pro 3. Instead, the 2-in-1 Surface Pro 4 tablet will be an upgrade worth waiting for, with cutting-edge configurations on board, BGR reports. On the other hand, the Apple iPad Pro is expected to be the biggest Apple slate ever. Needless to say, with two power-packed devices waiting to be released, the expectations surrounding the features and specifications of both devices have been growing. Here is a comparison of the reported configurations between Surface Pro 4 and iPad Pro.

Release Date

Microsoft did not introduce the Surface Pro 4 tablet at last month's Build developer conference in San Francisco. Inquisitr writes that the release date is pegged for October, the same month that Microsoft is widely believed to be releasing its Windows 10 operating system. So there is a good chance that the Surface Pro 4 will be the first Microsoft tablet to come pre-loaded with Windows 10. Meanwhile, the Apple iPad Pro release date has reportedly been postponed to 2016, MacWorld reports.

Specifications And Features

Two versions of the Surface Pro 4 will be released, Christian Today reports. The smaller version will reportedly feature a 12-inch display, whereas the bigger one will sport a 14-inch screen. Under the hood, the 12-inch Surface Pro 4 tablet will be powered by an Intel Broadwell SoC microprocessor, while the 14-inch display-clad tablet will utilize Intel i5 and i7 chips.

Furthermore, the Surface Pro 4 will reportedly come equipped with a maximum of 1 TB of built-in storage capacity. As for camera configuration, there will be an 8 MP rear-facing unit, along with a 3.5 MP front-facing snapper for selfies and video chats.

The iPad Pro will reportedly come with a 12.9-inch display, in contrast to the smaller current-generation iPads. This display will make the upcoming slate the biggest Apple tablet ever. Under the hood, the tablet is expected to be powered by the upcoming Apple A9 processor and backed by a solid 4 GB of RAM, Christian Today reports.

To top it off, the iPad Pro will reportedly feature a killer battery unit of 11,000 mAh. When it comes to memory, the tablet will come equipped with 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB of storage choices. In addition, the iPad Pro will reportedly feature a Force Touch trackpad, similar to the technology seen in Apple Watch and MacBook 2015. Moreover, the device will also include NFC Radio and Bluetooth stylus in order to take the stylus-clad Surface Pro 4 head on.

Readers should note that neither Microsoft nor Apple has confirmed the Surface Pro 4 and iPad Pro specifications and release date so far.
