Nicki Minaj reportedly wants Miley Cyrus to apologize for slamming her in a recent interview with the New York Times, leading to a feud between the two that was dragged to Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.

“Nicki is hard and doesn’t like to be disrespected,” a source told Hollywood Life. “Miley needs to take accountability for what she says and just apologize. She’s trying to blame the media, saying her words got twisted, but Nicki isn’t buying that.

“[Nicki] thinks she should stop blaming others and watch what she says,” the source continued. “Miley likes being outrageous and controversial but she needs to learn to not mess with someone like Nicki.”

However, another source told Hollywood Life that Cyrus is not ready to say “I’m sorry” to the “Anaconda” singer.

“Miley’s not looking for any trouble,” the source reportedly said, adding, “but if it comes her way then she’ll deal with it accordingly. She’s not scared of Nicki!

“Miley’s basically grown up in this industry,” the source went on to say, “and has been fighting bigger and more powerful people and bullies like Nicki for a long time. And if Nicki thinks Miley’s going to apologize to her or attempt to censor what comes out her mouth, Nicki’s got another thing coming.”

On Sunday night, while thanking her fans in her speech for Best Hip Hop Video for “Anaconda,” Minaj called out Cyrus, saying, "Now back to this b---- that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what's good?” Cyrus, who was hosting the show, responded by saying that her comments in the New York Times interview were taken out of context. “Hey we're all in this industry. We all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s---. Nicki, congratu-f-------lations.”

During the interview, Cyrus had spoken out about a feud between Minaj and Taylor Swift. Minaj got into a tiff with the “Bad Blood” singer on Twitter about the VMA nominations for Video of the Year last month. However, the two patched things up during the award show by performing together hand-in-hand.

On Tuesday, the source reportedly said that Cyrus is “not that wholesome sweet country girl like Taylor” who would give up her feud with Minaj.
