The Dallas Mavericks were in control for almost three quarters but the visiting Atlanta Hawks had more in the tank to net the 98-95 road victory Wednesday.

Paul Millsap had 20 points to lead all scorers and was key in a great fourth quarter as the Hawks improved to 14-9 overall at this point of the regular season. The Hawks big man also had 11 rebounds for a double-double and other starters in Jeff Teague and Al Horford chipped in 14 points apiece.

Kent Bazemore added 12 points off the bench and none came bigger than his three-pointer with 2:19 to go in the game as he gave Atlanta a 94-93 lead. Bazemore was efficient from the field making 5-of-10 shots including 2-of-3 from behind the arc and he also added 8 rebounds.

Wesley Matthews (17 points on 6-of-17 field goals) and Dirk Nowitzki (13 points on 6-of-20 shooting with 8 rebounds and 4 steals) missed jumpers late and that allowed the Hawks to ice the game from the free throw line and escape with the road victory, their sixth of the season.

All five starters finished in double-figure scoring for Dallas with Zaza Pachulia posting a double-double of 11 points and 17 rebounds while Deron Williams had 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Williams had a chance to send the game into overtime but missed with a second to go in the game.

The Hawks now won back-to-back games before a big road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder Thursday. The Mavericks, who are just 4-6 in their last 10 games, will host the Washington Wizards and Phoenix Suns in their next two games.
