Dallas Keuchel was the No.2 starting pitcher in free agency when the offseason began. He remains unsigned with Opening Day less than two weeks away, and the left-hander might not be much closer to joining a team for the 2019 MLB season.

Agent Scott Boras has told MLB.com that his client is receiving offers, though he didn’t give any specifics. Those offers might not be to Keuchel’s liking, considering his asking price and the fact that he still isn’t signed to a team.

It was rumored that Keuchel was looking for nine-figure contract earlier in the winter, possibly one that approached Patrick Corbin’s six-year, $140 million deal. It’s clear that the veteran won’t get that kind of money at this point in spring training, and he probably won’t get any offer to close it.

The Houston Astros remain an option for Keuchel, though they aren’t a long-term one. The 31-year-old rejected the team’s $17.9 million qualifying offer in November, and The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal has reported that Houston is only offering Keuchel one and two-year deals.

The Atlanta Braves have been linked to Keuchel this offseason. According to MLB.com’s Jon Morosi, the Braves are monitoring Keuchel and remain wary of giving up a draft pick to sign him, which is the case since Keuchel rejected the Astros’ qualifying offer.

The New York Yankees are expected to start the season with two of their starters on the injured list. Despite speculation that New York could be a fit for Keuchel, the Yankees reportedly won’t spend any more big money in free agency.

Keuchel has been one of the best starters in baseball over the last five years. He’s pitched to a 3.28 ERA since 2014, posting a sub-3.00 ERA in three seasons.
