  • The 28-year-old was criticized for trying to be like Conor McGregor

One of Conor McGregor’s controversial teammates ambitiously wants to take on a big name in MMA.

Bellator welterweight fighter Dillon Danis is looking forward to making his MMA comeback sooner rather than later.

Two knee surgeries and the pandemic saw Danis being out of action, but now that he’s ready for his return, “El Jefe” hopes to face a UFC veteran--either Diego Sanchez or Jake Shields.

Speaking to The MMA Hour, Danis fearlessly called out both Sanchez and Shields, claiming the former has already been challenging him for a fight by sending him “messages.”

“When I come back, my comeback fight is either gonna be Jake Shields or Diego Sanchez. That’s who I wanna fight when I come back,” Danis said.

“I can send you the messages that Diego says, that m-----f-----’s crazy,” he continued. “So if he wants to get it, I told him too, I was like, ‘Bro I’m gonna hurt you so bad.’ He’s like crazy, like bro you don’t know what I’m going to do to you,” Danis explained. “Jake Shields can get it too. John Wayne Parr. I don’t care who it is. I’m gonna come back and gonna fight one of them.”

Apart from the aforementioned UFC legends, Danis also took a jab at Michael “Venom” Page and put the Bellator star on notice as well.

“Even Michael ‘Venom’ Page, I’ll fight him. He’s so bad, he’s terrible.”

Danis only has a 2-0 record in professional MMA and has not fought since June 2019.

Other than being known as McGregor’s training partner, the 28-year-old is also generated quite a buzz because of his run-ins with the law, having been arrested for disorderly conduct this past September

Commenting on the subject, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping stressed that Danis should leave MMA for good as he presents nothing to become a legitimate star other than just being like a “broke version” of McGregor.

“He’s a stain on mixed martial arts, and I wouldn’t normally give him the time of day–the guy hardly ever fights,” Bisping said of Danis during an episode of his MMA Wrap-Up show.

“He’s a very, very, very, very, poor man’s Conor McGregor,” the Brit exclaimed. “He’s like a broke version of Conor McGregor that’s lost all his money, he’s gone broke, he’s hit rock bottom. And that’s what you’re left with, that’s ‘Dildo Danis.'”
