Nasdaq turns negative for year
Stocks tumbled on Friday, with the Nasdaq turning negative for the year, as Wall Street resumed its recent downtrend amid fears of an economic slowdown.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> lost 133.17 points, or 1.10 percent, to 11,991.19. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 14.13 points, or 1.10 percent, to 1,274.87. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dropped 30.95 points, or 1.15 percent, to 2,653.92.
