KEY POINTS

  • Jaylen Brown is one of the more consistent players for the Boston Celtics
  • The Milwaukee Bucks are currently the best team in the league with a 53-12 record
  • The Celtics need Brown to step up if they end up matched up against the Bucks in the modified season

The Boston Celtics are among the favorites in the league with how well they performing in the Eastern Conference. If the Celtics end up matched up against the Bucks, it’s expected that Jaylen Brown steps up for the team.

The 23-year-old has been with the Celtics since 2016 when he was drafted 3rd overall by the squad. The California Golden Bears product has proven time and time again how well he’s developed under the system of Brad Stevens.

Throughout this season he has emerged as one of the more consistent players of the Celtics. Averaging 20.4 points per game on 49% shooting, he’s been a big piece for Boston as he’s assisted stars Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum on the offensive and defensive end.

Despite being one of the more dominant teams in their conference, their rivals the Milwaukee Bucks have emerged as the best team in the NBA. With reigning most valuable player Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the charge, the Bucks boast a record of 53-12 in the team standings. The first matchup between the Celtics and Bucks featured Boston emerge victorious with a 116-105. Unfortunately, the Celtics fell short in their second meeting, 123-128.

Per Hardwood Houdini, Brown’s absence in the second game was crucial for the team’s loss. It would be expected for the six-foot-six forward to step up in the modified season if they want to defeat the league-leading Bucks. With Milwaukee powered with the MVP and the sharpshooter Khris Middleton, Brown has his hands full in competing against these stars.

But the Celtics are equipped with a deep squad of skilled players assisting Walker and Tatum. Players such as the elite defensive guard Marcus Smart are ready for any challenge. Add Gordon Hayward to the mix as a steady contributor gives Boston added depth to the team. It would be pivotal to have Brown continue his consistent performances for the team in order for the Celtics to matchup against the Bucks’ dominance.

It will be interesting to see how the league will turn out once the games resume. Matchups will be important and Brown must be ready to compete if the Celtics find themselves head to head against the Bucks.
