The Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers enter Game 5 of their respective second-round series tied 2-2. The latest betting odds, however, suggest that it’s highly unlikely either team will win this year’s championship.

Just hours before Tuesday’s Game 5 against the Miami Heat, the 76ers have +1200 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to win the 2022 NBA Finals. The Mavericks are long shots with +2400 NBA Finals odds heading into Game 5 against the Phoenix Suns.

Miami has +700 odds to win the championship. Phoenix has the second-best NBA Finals odds at +330.

The 76ers have been revitalized since Joel Embiid returned from the right orbital fracture and concussion that prevented him from playing the first two games against the Heat. With Philadelphia back in the lineup, the 76ers are 2-0 against Miami, outscoring the Heat, 215-187.

Embiid is averaging 21.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in the series. James Harden had his best performance of the playoffs in Game 4, recording 31 points, seven rebounds and nine assists.

Expected to be the NBA MVP runner-up for a second straight year, Embiid is the best player in the second-round series. The center has a real chance to carry the 76ers to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Luka Doncic has been the best player in Dallas’ series with Phoenix. The Suns have had no answers for Doncic, who is averaging 33.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game.

The Mavericks have made the Suns pay when trying to stop Doncic from scoring. The superstar’s teammates are making 13.5 3-pointers per game on 43.2% shooting.

Chris Paul has been limited to 17 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds total in two straight losses. The NBA’s best team in the regular season, the Suns are heavy favorites to win the series.

The winner of Philadelphia vs. Miami will take on the Boston Celtics or Milwaukee Bucks with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line. Phoenix or Dallas will take on the Golden State Warriors or Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Finals.

The Warriors are the only team with a 3-1 series lead in the second round. On the brink of elimination, the Grizzlies (+6500) are the one team with worse title odds than the 76ers or Mavericks.
