KEY POINTS

  • The Golden State Warriors have reached major success in the past decade
  • Michael Jordan is seen as one of the greatest players of all time
  • The success of the Golden State Warriors have left Michael Jordan frustrated as a majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets

There is no question that Michael Jordan is the most iconic figure in the NBA. But in the recent decade, no team has reached much success in the league as the Golden State Warriors.

The last few years saw the Warriors rise from a high-scoring jump-shooting team to a perennial playoff contender. With the meteoric rise of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, coupled with the all-around play of Draymond Green, the Warriors were able to get over the hump and win their first title.

Dominance from the Warriors would ensue throughout the years with superstar Kevin Durant joining the mix. At one point the Warriors entered five straight trips to the NBA finals and winning three championships along the way.

Despite the difficult year that the Warriors are enduring, there are still pieces in play that will propel the Bay Area team back to a playoff threat. The massive roster changes and injuries will be addressed once the splash brothers fully recover and if the front office makes the right moves in the draft.

This means that the Warriors should not be counted out yet in the succeeding years as the team has the assets that could lead them back to dominance.

The way Golden State is able to keep up in the league for the past few years have apparently frustrated Jordan. With the peak of “The Last Dance” everyone has been reminded of the greatness and competitive nature of Jordan and the 90s Bulls. It gives a perspective that Jordan hated losing and that he would do whatever it takes to win.

Per NBC Sports, sports reporter J.A. Adande shared that Jordan is unable to compete with the likes of Joe Lacob in the realm of being an executive. The Charlotte Hornets have been under Jordan’s wing for the past 10 years as the majority owner of the franchise. While the team has reached certain moments of success, it hasn’t broken through as a feared dynasty.

"And it frustrates him to no end that he can't play at their level, when his whole life he's used to playing at levels higher than everybody else. He can't beat them in this realm," Adande said.

Despite these, there is still no arguing that Jordan is still the biggest figure in basketball. With teams such as the Warriors still in control, it remains uncertain if Jordan can add more rings to his already historic six championships in the 90s.
